“The game’s afoot!” –Sherlock Holmes
“There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact.” –Sherlock Holmes
The pipe-puffing, violin-playing master sleuth of 221B Baker Street set the standard for the brilliant crime-solving mastermind and his creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle penned four novels and over fifty short stories detailing the exploits of the detective in the deerstalker hat. Holmes combined a keen observer’s eye with a reverence for logic and disdain for easy answers that amazed and frustrated police and his quarry alike. Actors playing Holmes include Orson Welles, Basil Rathbone, Boris Karloff, John Barrymore, Peter Cushing and Benedict Cumberbatch. Here he is portrayed by Ben Hollis of Wild Chicago fame.
